It’s another scorcher today which means more ideas on how to beat the heat and look cool in the summer sun. Sometimes the summer sun is so full on that the best way to beat it is to stay out of it, but what do you do when you have to get out in it for work? Especially if you can’t get away with shorts and the tiniest tank top you own at work.
My suggestion – keep it natural, short as possible and open those toes! Plus wearing one of the cool colour trends of the season helps.
Naturally: Natural fibers are great for hot days because they breathe. You may remember this dress as one of my Madrid purchases from Sita Murt. It’s 100% silk and at just above the knee, the length is as short as I would ever wear! It’s also the perfect dress to wear my cork platforms thanks to how nicely the mustard coloured suede matches the print in the dress.
Perfect Match: I totally worked my accessories to match my look. But to keep from being too matching I made sure the shoes and handbag don’t match each other. The blue indigo bag and mustard coloured open toe platforms are the perfect colour matches for the Sita Murt dress. Jewelry is simple. My Marc Jacobs rose gold watch, rose gold drop earrings, to fine copper bracelets and a blue beaded bracelet. Everything works off the colour palette of the dress.
You are probably thinking long sleeves in the heat of summer? I say yes, for three reasons; 1) the dress is silk so the sleeves are light and breathe, 2) if you are out running errands on your lunch break you don’t want to get a sunburn on your arms (skin cancer is not a good look), and 3) if the AC is on at work, the longer sleeve keeps you from freezing when inside.
What do you think about these tips for beating the heat and how to look cool in the summer sun?

It is a perfect look! I instantly thought no way to long sleeves in summer, but never considered silk. I don’t really like sleeveless, but sometimes it’s just so hot. I am gonna have to find myself some breathable silk before the summer comes. Great colors!

Long sleeves aren’t a bad way to go in summer as long as you keep the fibers natural, silk, cotton and linen work best for me. I really dislike my arms so am always happier when they are covered so I’m thrilled when I can find a long-sleeved summer look that beats the heat.

[...] Summer Silk Dress: You’ll remember this lovely silk Sita Murt dresses as one of my purchases from Spain. I was really excited to see that Sita Murt has been named one of the 4 to Watch designers in the current issue of Madison Australia! I absolutely adore both the pieces I bought while in Spain and would love to add more of this feminine style to my wardrobe. Above is the summer look. Wearing natural fibers like silk helps you stay cool in the warm weather and the long sleeves are perfect for those chilly offices. [...]
