Metallic has been so big this year and is probably going to be around well into next year so it only makes sense that the metallic trend would be what to wear for New Year‘s Eve. After all, a girl has got to have her sparkle!
This year we are catching up with some friends at their home. As we are in Australia that means there will be a
big HUGE table of seafood, lot’s of sparkling wine (Australia does good bubbles but as we aren’t in the Champagne region we have to call it Sparkling. Of course that works with the nights theme, and maybe a few icy cold beers or cider. It’s also hot, so no point in wearing velvet or anything too fussy.
Sparkle in Metallic: This New Year’s Eve look started with the skirt from ASOS.com. It was one of my pre-Christmas purchases. I liked that it looks like liquid silver and is really a great neutral base to build my look from. The top is a couple of years old and I purchased it on sale at Target. The silver clutch is from my DIY series and the rest of the accessories are a mix of items from heirloom to costume, plus my hot pink NOVO wedges just for a bit of fun. I like that the top has a “bubble” print (polka dots) to add to the festive night.
Sparkling Accessories: The earrings are costume and I have had them for a few years. I honestly don’t remember how much they cost but I’m sure it was less than $30. However, the necklace is vintage and was a piece my mother gave me that used to belong to my grandmother. It’s a gorgeous double strand of crystals and I love how they sparkle! A patent leather wide belt adds a bit of vintage feel to the look. The triple strand of silver pearls is another costume piece I have had for years and I think I purchased it at a local shop called Wen & Ware a few years back.
Bustling Back: Normally, I would absolutely avoid having my photo taken from the back! However, I like the bustle detail on the back of this skirt. It just provides a little interest to the back. Plus I’m thinking if it camouflage’s tummy bumps when on the front maybe it will hide bum bumps too!
A New Year’s Toast: I don’t usually wear dark lipstick because of my notoriously thin lips it’s just not that flattering but after a drink most of it will be gone and I’ll freshen with a lighter shade. And there will be a drink as I toast in the New Year with the Fashion Mister and our friends. All of you will be there too! In my heart and mind as I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Thank you all for your support in 2012. I hope to continue to see and hear from you in 2013!
Now that you have seen my metallic trend for New Year’s Eve, I’m looking forward to seeing what all of you wear!
