As mentioned yesterday, as part of Peach Month, I thought we could look a little closer at peach fashion vs peach home design/interiors.
Here’s a look at the original colour inspiration and some fashion photos collected on Pinterest.
I really like the variation of shades in the original colour inspiration shot in the top left corner. That’s the beauty of mother nature, she has a really good eye! As you can see from this collection of photos I worked with the more intense shades of peach for both fashion and home inspiration. As much as I love the bedroom in the center left, I don’t think the Fashion Mister would be too comfortable with how girlie the look is. The other two peach inspired home pics in this collection lend themselves a little more to a masculine flare thanks to their use of brown, wood and straight lines.
The same effect can be achieved in fashion by using neutrals and browns mixed with peach and having a more tailored fit.
You may recall mentioning the redecorating of our master bedroom a few months back. Originally we had a blue feature wall and everything was in blue, brown, tan and little hints of orange. After a trip to Hong Kong where we purchased a bunch of silk brocade so a dear friend could make us the beautiful quilt above, I opted to paint the feature wall a soft shade of peach to both warm and lighten the room. Buy using browns, rust and metals in the room I have kept it from becoming too feminine. I think the Fashion Mister likes the result as much as I do!
This feature wall in our Lounge/Living Room is the same colour as the one in the master bedroom, which works nicely since the two rooms are connected. You may recall from my post about the Persian carpet that this room is decorated in browns, blues and shades of orange. Again, my attempt to make sure the Fashion Mister doesn’t feel out-of-place in our home!
The nice thing about peach in fashion or in your home is that it can be whatever you want it to be, girlie and feminine or tailored and chic, it works.
Are you inspired by peach? Do you wear it or paint your walls with it? Fashion vs Home, will you do one but not the other?

I used to be quite scared to wear orange tones because of the fear they would make my skin look ‘washed out’. In fact the right colour peach can be flattering, I have a peach maxi dress from BCBG that I adore.

Peach is a little like nude, in that when you find the right shade it can be oh so flattering.
I need to stick with colours that are a little on the red side (it’s the same with my purple passion).
It’s going to be a nice colour to wear over the upcoming spring/summer months when orange is just too full on.
Cheers,
Laura

Thanks Preethi!
It is a great colour and most people can wear it they just need to find the right shade. Naturally I love it because it is so close to orange!

I can’t wear this color. It makes my skin look really sallow. I have to wear very saturated pinks. However, I have some lovely dark peach sari inspired placemats that look like great on my pecan dining table against the pale lemon walls.

I agree Meredith! It’s a great fresh summer look.
The first look in the Peach Month – My Way post is kind of inspired from that look.
Cheers,
