I got so distracted with telling you all about Simplify Your Life Week that I nearly forgot it’s PEACH MONTH!
Another sign that for us in the Southern Hemisphere spring is just around the corner. So it seems only appropriate that we celebrate all things Peach!
All I can say about peach…Yum!
Actually, I can say a lot more, and will! If you have been following along you know that I have an orange crush and did a whole series of posts on Tangerine Tango. Peach is really just the softer, fresher version of my orange lust.
There are so many shades that qualify as peach these days. It would seem that coral often gets lumped in there too. I rather think coral is a halfway point between Tangerine Tango and Peach. I like how both peach and coral work so well with neutrals and brown. This makes them both lovely warm colours for dressing both yourself and your home.
I have painted the feature wall in our living/lounge room and the master bedroom a very pale peach colour. It adds warmth to the two rooms we spend the most time in, without becoming too heavy.
As seen in these photos, peach can be quite girlie but doesn’t have to be. It’s all about the fabric, texture and the tailoring. If you want to go all out girlie it’s easily done by wearing lace, feathers or soft fabrics. However if girlie is just not your thing you can wear peach in a very tailored look and manage to look both chic and feminine.
As we did with “Blue”berry Month, we will have a few more inspirations from colour peach over the next few days as a way to celebrate Peach Month!

I’m eating a bowl of fresh cut peaches right now! I always gravitate toward pinks, but not this month! I’m going to peach it up a bit.

I’m really liking the shades of peach right now.
We are just warming up from a cold winter and anything too bright still seems a little garrish so peach is a perfect “work our way up to summer” colour.

I love the comment above! That is so clever.
Great collages, one and all. I love this idea.

Thank you Alys!
I love putting together the photos of fashion, home, and food to show some of the commonalities.
It came about from a friend that is really good with home interior but not so good with clothes. I used deorating a room to teach her about pulling together a look for herself.

Laura

Laura, what a great idea. The same design principles do apply: form, color, texture, shape, etc. I’m dying to create a collage of my own (I’m a huge collage fan, but I’ve not done one in color). I’m a huge fan of color too. You’ve inspired me.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with Alys! You probably have far more talent than I with collages. I’m good with colour but not that creative with putting it all together. I’m kind of a classic straight lines kind of girl.
Cheers,
Laura

Don’t sell yourself short, Laura. You have great style and color sense. You’re also inspiring others…and that is a gift.

Thanks Alys, that is very sweet of you.
And it makes my day to think I have inspired someone.

Lovely collages … sadly not a colour I can wear well, makes me even paler or too red … sigh but like it on others

That’s how I feel about yellow Jensine.
Just can’t wear it.
Even the thought of wearing it makes me pale.

I know .. only young girls can wear yellow, older women (except if they have darker skin) just can’t pull it off, it’s all wrong
August 7th, 2012 at 10:36
Even when I was young I couldn’t/wouldn’t wear it.
August 7th, 2012 at 03:46
Lovely
But I can tell I’m really going to resent you when you’re posting summery stuff and it’s cold here!
August 7th, 2012 at 08:33
K,
I hope that it isn’t too bad!
Think how it has been here over the past three months, freezing cold and wet while you have enjoyed a beautiful summer!
I’ll try not to rub it in too much, right now I”m just excited to wake in the morning and see the sun some days so I may be a bit zealous.
Cheers,
Laura

I understand completely
Hubs says he loves watching the Australian Open and seeing people on the beach while we’re freezing. I’m okay with a white (or at least cold) Christmas
August 7th, 2012 at 09:33
I would prefer a cold Christmas…it was the hardest thing to adjust to here but I have found ways to enjoy a hot one…it at least means I am not stuck in the kitchen all day on Christmas! For the Open we always seem to manage the absolute hottest days to show off to the rest of the world.

I love peach! I tend to look at peachy colored clothing in shops before all other colors. (Although I am not sure it suits my complexion). I also love eating peaches fresh or in any other form. ( Just yesterday I made peach crumble)
Have a great week!

Sara,
I love peaches too!
And I bet your crumble is to die for!
I seem to do better with the peaches that are a little more coral – so have a little more red in them than yellow.
Once it goes yellowy peach is horrible on me.
Dang…now I have crumble on the brain…guess I’ll be baking before work tomorrow!

I’m not always a peach fan (other than the fruit!)
However, I must say- you have definitely made me see the appeal.
Oh, and ‘yay!’ for Spring being around the corner in Aus!
August 8th, 2012 at 01:49
Yes, YAY for Spring! I am very much looking forward to it.
I hadn’t really thought much about peach until I started thinking about it as a pale orange…a colour I love!
Then it became much more appealing.
Of course seeing what amazing looks, both home and fashion wise, that others pull together make it an even more appealing colour.
Cheers,
Laura

Hi Lauren,
I don’t know who that one was by but I know that ASOS, Shopbob and TheIconic.com.au all did some amazing faux fur.
You might want to check them.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Cheers,
Laura

I’m craving a peach right about now!
August 10th, 2012 at 21:44
Me too and we are still a fair way from the season!
Guess I’ll have to settle for the liquid kind until then.
Cheers,
Laura
